The Start

In 2009, TJ and Dina Hanken bought a one way ticket to Guatemala. While they were there doing missionary work, they discovered so much more about God’s purposes for their lives.
Not only did they fall in love with the rich taste and flavor of Guatemalan coffee, but they also created ResourcingNow.com, which is a non-profit organization that provides Bibles and Christian literature to people who live in countries that cannot afford them. To date they have had the privilege of assisting in the shipping, receiving and distribution of over 50 twenty ton shipping containers. Materials have gone to seventeen countries and counting. |

Mission
Resourcing NOW provides resources, biblical literature, and support for national organizations and national workers fulfilling the Great Commission throughout the world. How We Do This We come along side these national pastors, churches and ministries to strengthen their existing work and ministries specifically though the following ways: Literature Distribution: Christian literature such as Bibles, Sunday School material, Bible studies, books and tracts are a common commodity in the USA, but in most places around the world they can be extremely rare and expensive. Resourcing NOW has already distributed over 600 tons of this type of literature. Literature Collection: Sitting on the bookshelves in homes and churches across the USA are countless numbers of Bibles and books that could be used by pastors and churches around the world. Resourcing Now collects this literature so that it can shipped overseas to be used by people who need it. Financial Support: Resourcing NOW is working to provide financial support for national pastors, churches and workers serving in several nations. This includes ongoing support and one-time financial gits based on specific needs. Mission Teams: Resourcing NOW organizes and leads short-term teams. These teams work on literature distribution, door to door evangelism, Pastoral training, sports camps, medical clinics and light construction projects. Trips are custom designed to match the individual team and specific needs. |

In June 2009 the Hanken’s moved to Guatemala City, Guatemala where TJ served as a Middle School and High School Bible Teacher and Chaplain at the Christian Academy of Guatemala. It was in Guatemala where the Hanken’s saw first-hand the incredible need of the local church for Biblical literature and resources. In 2010 they joined forces with a church ministry in Villa Nueva, Guatemala called City of Refuge. Together they rented a small warehouse and received a 20-ton container of Spanish literature from Love Packages Ministry located in Butler, IL.
The Hanken’s returned to Iowa in 2011 where TJ served for two years at a local church in Parkersburg, IA. Feeling compelled by the Lord to continue the work of literature distribution, TJ started Resourcing NOW Ministries in 2012 and currently serves as Executive Director.
As of 2021 Resourcing NOW has received and distributed over 50 containers of English and Spanish literature throughout Central America and the Caribbean. TJ has also had the privilege of leading multiple short-term mission trips to many countries. TJ and Dina are so grateful to the many friends, family members, churches, and ministries who have made the work of Resourcing NOW possible through their faithful prayers and support.
Above all, they give God all the praise and glory for the privilege they have of serving HIS purposes for this generation! May HIS name alone be made great.
